Amy suggested we meet somewhere near water, with docks, for their family photo session. I can testify to the calm peacefulness that comes by being near water, especially since my name means Harbor – a safe resting place near the water. And despite the mild Kansas breeze, this evening held the calmness, the serenity, that comes with stepping out of our busy lives and letting ourselves rest for the moment.
Amy coordinated outfits beautifully!! If you’re looking for an example of what to wear for a photo session, this is it! She choose timeless colors, and mixed up the pieces so that no one matched exactly, but they all perfectly complimented each other!
I pointed out to Amy and Jason, how their evening would feel like a date night, minus the kids and a big camera following them around! But my goal during family sessions is to make everyone feel comfortable and relaxed so the images they’re left with show natural smiles and expressions. They told me it had been years since their last professional photos, but you would never know it by the way they felt so comfortable in front of the camera! Natural poses, genuine smiles, the way they interacted with each other. Working with this beautiful family was a complete joy!
I might say this on every shoot, but I truly have the best clients any photographer could ask for!! It’s so true! And I couldn’t stop complimenting them, especially the kids, for the way they eagerly listened to my posing tips, and sometimes crazy ideas!
Thanks for taking time out of your busy lives to spend time in front of the camera! I hope you all treasure these photos and memories for many years to come!!
